About Sean McCambridge / My background, my philosophy
I am a web designer, developer, marketer and analyst in that order. I do it all to a degree. I have been designing websites since 1999. I am positively obsessed with the web as a medium. Sometimes, I think it's the last frontier. It definitely has that wild-west bit going on.
But I'm much more than a web _________. There is so much more to the world than work, and while the web is an amazing, awesome medium, I do have a life away from it. This page is here to tell you more about me as a person.
So I was born in Pennsylvania and moved to Charleston, South Carolina when I was a kid. I moved around a lot during and after college.
I went to Clemson University and got degrees in philosophy and German, but it was the people I met there and the little things I learned that made my time there well spent.
I have hobbies. I was born with a foot in the water. I like to kayak, surf, sail and build boats. I really like good beer, but I still haven't played around with homebrewing like I've been meaning to. I love to cook. Even though my thumb is not that green, I like to plant things in the ground and try to make them grow.
I like art. I like to play around with anything artistic: painting, photography, mosaics, mostly. I dabble on the guitar (who doesn't? :) )
It seems like my family has travel in our blood. My mom emigrated from Germany, and (for better and worse), my brother and sister ended up settling on opposite sides of the country (California and Maine). I used to live in Maine myself, and I spent a year living in Germany during college.
When I lived in Maine, I worked on boats: a schooner and a whale watcher. I miss those days, but working as a web dude definitely gives me a better future.
I worked previously at a medium-sized web development shop, where I wasn't given much opportunity to put my diverse background and talents to work. Freelancing has been a great experience, and I enjoy working closely with clients to build them beautiful websites that perform and give them the most they can out of having a website. Getting to know them and their business has taught me a lot about having my own business.
Why am I telling you all of this?
The web can be a very cold place. I hope this page makes my site a little bit more personal and you get a little bit of a sense of who I am behind the pixels on the screen.

A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE ASKED about the background photo on this site. It was taken on the beach by Fort Moultrie on the harbor side of Sullivan's Island, SC. The old, wooden sea wall has been there as long as I've lived in Charleston. The beach is a great place to watch the ships and shrimpers come in and has one of the best views of downtown Charleston.
